Interview Tips
- Be prepared
Research the company, its products, the role and the market place including its competitors. - Be punctual
Don't be late, check the location and the journey before and arrive 5 to 10 minutes early. - Dress smart
Dress for the interview. Business dress such as suits is usually expected. Dress for success and if you look good, you'll feel good! - Shake well:
Give a firm handshake without crushing the interviewer's hand. If you suffer from sweat on your hands, dry them immediately before shaking. - Keep eye contact
Try to keep eye contact. Many interviewers feel more confident about candidates answers when there is good eye contact. - Sell yourself
Think like the employer. Put yourself in their shoes and imagine what they are looking for. Then explain why your skills would benefit the company and why you're perfect for the role. - Always listen!
Concentrate, don't interrupt and listen to what the interviewer is saying. It is polite and shows interest and enthusiasm. - Communicate well
Make sure that you are concise, clear and prove yourself. Very importantly, don't waffle! - Maintain good body language
Remember that over 80% of communication is non-verbal… a smile says a thousand words and avoid slouching! - Know your CV
Check your CV before. Know it inside out so that you are able to answer questions regarding your experience. - Ask questions
Demonstrate your enthusiasm and that you have been paying attention to ask more questions. - End it well
End with a smile and handshake, and potentially ask what the next stage is (if this was not already mentioned).
