B2B Marketing Salary Survey 2008

A survey of marketers’ salaries is not a new idea – there are a number of annual studies along these lines that are well established.  However, like most things in marketing, they are non-specific in their audience or constituent group, and therefore not particularly helpful to B2B marketing practitioners. In the same way that the range and variety of jobs available to B2B marketers appears distinctly more limited than for those in the consumer space, information on salaries and other related matters is also conspicuous by its absence.

Therefore, B2B Marketing – together with its recruitment arm B2Bmarketingjobs.co.uk – set out to produce the first ever salary survey designed specifically for B2B marketing practitioners.  This document is a summary of our findings.  It is designed to allow marketing practitioners in business-to-business roles to be able to compare and contrast salaries with those of contemporaries in similar roles for the first time.  In a world where most marketers work in something of a vacuum with little or no means of benchmarking their progress or their perceived worth to their employer, this information should prove invaluable.

The survey also looks at other related aspects of remuneration and recruitment, including length of tenure, incentives and marketing job satisfaction.  It is the first edition of an annual study that will provide marketers with a yardstick against which to measure their progress.  If you have any comments on this survey, things you liked or disliked or suggestions for how it could be enhanced for next year, please let us know by email at:
